Our Leadership

Howard is the Principal Owner for Wealth Advisory Group (WAG), a Guardian® Firm whose long history of success dates back to 1933. He has been with the firm for over 40 years. WAG now has more than 100 Associates and has offices throughout the tri-state area.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a major in economics, Howard joined Guardian®, serving as a Financial Representative from 1984 to 1998. He was also a Managing Director with the company from 1987 to 1998. Since Howard became the CEO of Wealth Advisory Group in 1999, the firm has won numerous Guardian® awards.

Known for his people-first approach, Howard believes that WAG’s greatest strength lies in its people, not the products or processes, but the relationships and values they uphold. He’s passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders, helping them make smart career choices while having fun, and ensuring they are equipped to lead with integrity and empathy.

As a member of the General Agents and Managers Association International (GAMA) since 1993, he has received numerous industry awards, including the Master Agency Award and National Management Award. Howard joined GAMA’s Board of Directors in 2008. In 2013/2014 he was elected and served as President of the Executive Committee of GAMA. Howard has been a supporter of the GAMA Foundation for Education and Research and the Life Foundation for many years. In addition, Howard is a member of many other industry associations, including the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU). In 2020, the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU) and the General Agents and Managers Association International (GAMA) merged to form FINSECA, which Howard is now a member of. He has also qualified for MDRT’s prestigious Top of the Table.

A recognized thought leader, Howard has contributed to national study groups sponsored by LIMRA and LOMA, focusing on research-driven strategies to enhance industry standards. He is also part of the RAG (Research Advisory Group) and has helped author influential whitepapers, including a highly regarded report on the impact of COVID-19 on the financial services profession.

Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, practicing yoga, and staying active. He attributes much of his success to the foundational lessons learned early in his career, including the importance of listening deeply, investing in people, and embracing a mindset of constant growth. Above all, Howard credits his achievements to the unwavering love and support of his family, who have been with him every step of the way.
